I recently watched some of the Artemis II coverage. There was a lot to like. NASA made a real point of rolling out their latest generation of mission controllers and media personalities and it all worked well.
Except… when it came to splashdown and recovery, they weren’t leaving anything to chance. It was time for the big bucks. So out came that NASA guy, you know the one I mean, whose voice you’d recognise instantly even through a spacesuit. He’s Rob Navias by the way, and he’s been doing it since the space shuttle days.
And it made me think… if only there was the budget to have NASA commentate on ordinary life, day to day activities. How so much more important and skillfully handled everything would appear to be.
